General information on Spam Filtering.
By default all email sent to you at your mvdsl.com or mvnet.com address will be automatically filtered before it arrives in your inbox and the spam will be stored in an online quarantine. You can safely view your quarantine anytime you like without risk from fraudulent and dangerous email.
What to expect from your spam filtering service:
1. Each day, you will be emailed a Spam Digest that includes the suspect email in your personal quarantine. Only suspect email that has arrived since the previous digest is included in each new Spam Digest. You may change how often you receive the Daily Digest to daily, weekly, monthly or never by going to the Personal Dashboard under Settings.
2. Review the contents of the Spam Digest. If you see something you want, simply click the View link and then the Release button to send it to your regular inbox. There is no need to delete the unwanted email you see in your Spam Digest--it will be automatically deleted after 35 days.
3. You can adjust your personal email filter settings, search your quarantine, and even turn filtering off by visiting your Personal Dashboard. A link is provided in each Spam Digest that will take you to the Personal Dashboard. No password or login ID is required.

How do I change my personal email filter settings, search my quarantine, or turn filtering off?
You’ll need to go to your Personal Dashboard. The easiest way to do this is to click on the Personal Dashboard link in your daily digest (click here to view a sample digest), no login ID or password is required to do this. You can also access your Personal Dashboard by going to http://mvtel.redcondor.net/console/. The first time that you access your Personal Dashboard in this manner, you’ll need to click on the sign-up link to create a username and password. Now that you have logged in to your Dashboard: (1) to search your quarantine, click on the quarantine tab, select the appropriate time period and click find. (2) To change your settings, click on the settings tab, make the desired changes and then click on Save at the bottom of the page. (3) to turn your filtering off, change all of the filtering options to allow and then click Save at the bottom of the page.

How can I be sure that the spam filter is not blocking good email, and what do I do if it does?
All quarantined messages are stored for 35 days. You can review your quarantined messages from either the Web Dashboard or the Spam Digest, (for help in accessing your dashboard click here) which can be emailed daily, weekly, or monthly. Any suspect spam can be viewed and released to your mailbox. If after viewing and determining the message to be one you wish to receive, simply click on the view link and then the release button. If the message is from a sender that you always want to receive email from, check the add email address to your white list box before clicking on the release button and emails from that sender will never be filtered.

I’m not getting my daily digest, why?
1. Most likely it is being filtered by another spam filter on your computer. Outlook, Thunderbird, Windows Mail, and Netscape Mail all have built in junk email filters. Some Internet Security Suites like Norton or McAfee also have junk email filters. Look for the daily digest in your junk folder and then we recommend disabling any additional junk email filtering that you may have on your computer.
2. Another possibility is that you have not received any email that needed to be quarantined. If there is no suspect email, you won't receive a Daily Digest.

How do I use Web Mail and how does it
differ from Outlook Express or Netscape?
Web Mail allows you to read your email from any computer with Internet
access. You do this by going to our home page and clicking on the Web Mail button. Enter your username and
password for your mailbox. The first time that you login to Web Mail it
will ask you to fill in your name and email address. Enter this
information and click on "Save Changes." If you have your own domain name
you can still use Web Mail by entering in the userid field your
username@mydomain.com and then your password. With Web Mail your mail
stays on our computer until you delete it or use a program like Outlook
Express or Netscape to download your mail. When you use Outlook Express or
Netscape, you download or "pop" all of your mail off our computer onto
your computer and it is no longer available through Web Mail.

page?
First you need to create a web page. Programs such as Microsoft Front
Page and Netscape Composer create web pages. Once you have created your
web page you need to put it on our web server. To do this you'll need to
use ftp to move your files and both Front Page and Composer have ftp. You
can also download a ftp program by going to our home page and clicking on the "Downloads"
link and then downloading WSFTP. You will publish your web page to
ftp.mvdsl.com and you must supply your username and password. Your
username is the first part of your email address. For example if your
email address is johndoe@mvdsl.com your username is johndoe. Your first
page or home page must be in the root directory and you must name it
index.html. To access your web page go to
http://www.mvdsl.com/~yourusername

Why do I
receive email not addressed to me?
The sender is using BCC or Blind Carbon Copy. This is a useful way of
sending email to a list of people while keeping the addresses and identities of the other people on the list hidden. The mailer can set the “To” field to anything he or she wishes, and then put other addresses in the BCC.
If you get an email addressed to someone else, your address is one of the many others in the Blind Carbon Copy--which you can't see (hence the "blind"). Many spammers use BCC for illegitimate purposes.

I only receive part of my email. What is wrong?
Assuming that your Internet is working, the two most common reasons for not receiving your email are (1) the sender is using the wrong address or (2) you have MVDSL's spam filter turned on and it is blocking some emails. Click here for more details.
